yoga challenge day 2

Published December 29, 2013 by ck

I don’t know why it is so hard to get myself on the mat … I’m thinking about yoga all the time and it feels as if I’m doing it already 🙂 .. and people seem to think I do a lot .. but the truth is … I already have day 15 of the doyouyoga challenge in my inbox, and I have only finally done day 2 today! but it feels good, definitely, every time I get myself on the mat. It was only 20 mins, and then I added a headstand, the king of all asanas, and some pranayama and meditation, inspired by those 20 mins of yoga for posture. The best yoga practice tip I found was not to worry about how long and what practice, but just get yourself on the mat. up up up, buttercup! My mat is ready at the end of my bed, but still .. and when I tried that and after a few rounds of sun salutations went on to my day, I felt a bit like a cop out; I wonder if this is an ‘achievement complex’ or if it is that my body really wanted more, my soul wanted more, and I didn’t give it to them? Hard to say what’s intuition or instinct and what is acquired behaviour, expectations to self …

Expectations … that’s a good one. It’s on my “new year, new me-list”, to get rid of expectations, to just follow my flow and let other people follow theirs, and not take it personal. A nice challenge. Just thinking it could work out, I could actually reform myself in that way, feels liberating. Live and let live, live and let die.

New ways of being … this beautiful musician I found on the world wide web inspired me … new ways of being … aren’t we always learning new ways of being? I guess not. Sometimes we go on forever, making the same mistakes, same habits, same thoughts .. it is a conscious effort to learn and discover new ways of being.
I, for once, want to be more free from depending on other people’s approval. Which means, follow my heart, do my best, follow my passion and my intuition, but/and don’t expect others to come with you (me). The right people will turn up, manifest.

To follow what you love doing can be extremely attractive. Just think of, say, that musician, that virtuoso, how incredibly sexy he is just playing his music, doing his thing. And it’s the people who do that, really dive into their talents and express their souls, it’s those people who inspire us and lighten up our day and make the world beautiful. Music, art, architecture, gardens, and all these inventions that make our lives here so more comfortable. None of this would exist without the people who poured their hearts out, took a risk, believed in their dreams.

So, I wish for everyone, but first and foremost for myself (cause I can only do it for myself), to wholeheartedly live your dream and give it all you got.
Because “your playing small does not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other
people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of
God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.”
(Marianne Williamson, A return to love)
