personal reflections at the end of another year

Published December 30, 2013 by ck

1. ok cupid, tinder and zoosk are a waste of time …. so is facebook but at least you feel like you are connected with your friends around the world, even just by getting a ‘like’ or seeing a picture of them, and that makes it worthwhile.
2. exploring/learning new ways of being … I”m gonna start with giving myself all the attention I need, not asking it from anyone else, and with focussing my efforts on what I really love. Is that called ‘being selfish’? Well, then, my new year’s resolution is to be really really selfish! 🙂 … wow, wonderful, feeling great already!
3. nobody’s opinion is the ‘bible’. it’s only their opinion, at a certain moment in time. don’t take it personal. it’s the reflection of their experiences in their life. it’s personal to them, not to you and I. Bless them and move on if you can’t accept or agree.
4. must remember that if someone is really negative over a long period of time, they are not that way because they want to be. they can’t help it, and must be helped. but you/I can only extend the offer, and maybe gently encourage to take it, never force it on them and never make it too easy either. if they want a way out they will make the effort. however, physical help may be needed. not necessarily chemical as in medication, but ‘nutritional healing’ could be a start. and yoga. nature. the outdoors. sunshine. fresh air. movement. and please try not to criticise. here’s your chance to practice being a ‘saint’ (forever patient and extending love). {but who wants to be a saint?}
5. most things are constructions of the mind. luckily our minds are very flexible and we can make a different construction to the one that doesn’t make us feel good. why not, it’s all made up anyway. might as well be Pollyanna!Forever live Pollyanna!

Consider all the pain and all the pleasure

You have ever experienced

As waves on a very deep ocean which you are.

From the depths, witness those waves,

Rolling along so bravely, always changing,

Beautiful in their self-sustaining power.

Marvel that once, you identified with

Only the surface of this ocean.

Now embrace waves, depths, undersea mountains,

Out to the farthest shore.

are you feeling a bit … ‘twitchy’ …?

irritated? angry? disappointed? let down?

here’s what to do: run a bath, nice and hot, as you like it …. soak … so you got stuff on your mind that really bothers you …

indulge in the drama … play it out in your mind while you soak (if that soak is not already ‘soaking it away’) …. play it out … get dirty with it …

when you had enough, pull the plug … let the water run out .. at some point it will feel like it’s pulling your whole body down the plughole …. good .. imagine that’s all the negativity you just played out in your mind, going down the drain …. deep breath in … and out … all that shit, going down the drain … adios! three short deep breaths in, one looooong breath out … repeat until you feel free/relieve …

get up! turn on the shower … if you want hot first, go for it … enjoy … wash down any possible remaining negative energy .. now cold! Refreshing!

It’s a new you!

One moment you are the wave, another moment you are the hollow wake that follows. Enjoy both–don’t get addicted to one. Don’t say: I would always like to be on the peak. It is not possible. Simply see the fact: it is not possible. It has never happened and it will never happen. It is simply impossible–not in the nature of things. Then what to do? Enjoy the peak while it lasts and then enjoy the valley when it comes. What is wrong with the valley? What is wrong with being low? It is a relaxation. A peak is an excitement, and nobody can exist continuously in an excitement.

and then?

The basic feel good factor for the soul is to follow your desire … your desire is your soul speaking to you, it’s your “Wegweiser” ..

I say: Freedom is to follow your heart and to know it always takes you in the right direction.

I’ve been brought up in a catholic family, and catholicism is based on feeling guilty … sacrifice is what will open the door to heaven at the end …

I say: nah. sacrifice is what will kill that beauty inside you, that joy of life, that zest for life … that’s given to you by the creator in the first place. would he/she/it really want you to kill it so you can come home again? it doesn’t make sense to me.

What we love doing is an indicator of what our purpose here on earth is. Simple.

If you are not sure why you are here, try making a list of all the things you’ve ever loved doing.

Feel free to share it here.

Sometimes we just can’t see the trees from the forest (or how does it go?), so by sharing your ‘loves’ you might see clearer which way you really should be heading … follow your heart!

Love and light to you.
